Overview of Manaslu Expedition
Manaslu Expedition is one of Nepal’s most favored climbing expeditions, after Mount Everest Expedition.
It has become quite popular in the last few years because of a new, safer climbing route. Likewise, the Summit’s success has also increased by 90% in the last couple of years. Mount Manaslu is a less complicated peak to climb than other 8000K peaks. However, its climbing difficulty is comparable to Cho-Oyu and Shishapangma expeditions.
But above all, we must not forget that mountainous challenges and dangers are always there while climbing.
History of Mount Manaslu Expedition
Mount Manaslu 8163mt / 26782ft is the eighth highest Peak in the world. And besides the name Manaslu, it is also known as “Kutang” by the local people. Literally, Manaslu means “Mountain of Spirit.” The word comes from Sanskrit.
On 9th May 1959, Toshio Imanishi from Japan and Gyaltsen Norbu from Nepal were the first to summit Mount Manaslu. Since then, climbers from around the world have been attracted to summit the Mountain.
Climbing Route and Camps of Manaslu
Manaslu climbing route has five camps:
- Base Camp 4,750 meters/15184 ft.
- Camp-I at 5700 meters/18,700 ft.
- Camp-II at 6400 meters/20,998 ft.
- Camp-III at 6800 meters/230010 ft.
- Camp – IV at 7450 meters/24,445 ft.
However, the most challenging part of the entire climbing route is Camp-I and II, with plenty of crevasses and icefall. In addition, there is a short section of traverse beneath a gigantic serac, which looks a bit scary.
The most exhausting is the summit day; one must walk 10 to 13 hours at 7400 to 8163 meters altitude. In short, the overall climbing route is not extremely difficult.

Which style should you choose to climb Manaslu?
You can choose to climb Manaslu in two ways, either with Oxygen or without Oxygen. Eventually, Both ways aim to be at the Summit and experience the 8000 peaks climbing at the end.
With Oxygen: The advantage of taking O2 is that you are less tired, and indeed chances of frostbites are reduced, and reaching the Summit is high simultaneously.
The best idea is to use the latest technology of Oxygen, masks, and regulator rather than the old Russian system. Unlike, WILD YAK EXPEDITIONS, the best trekking company in Nepal, works with the latest British brand of O2, masks, and regulators.
We suggest using three bottles of Oxygen of 4 liters, which is sufficient for the Summit.
Without Oxygen: To climb Manaslu without Oxygen is challenging. But indeed, many have done it. Proper training and prior consultation are paramount to its success. Equally, the support of good logistics and guidance of the Sherpa Team also plays a vital role.
We provide essential training advice to prepare you for your Manaslu climb. Moreover, we are also partnered with Hypoxia training institutes; undoubtedly, Hypoxia training is one of the best ways to prepare for climbing without Oxygen.
WILD YAK Manaslu Expedition 2023
WILD YAK EXPEDITIONS organizing the Manaslu Expedition 2023 via the normal Route on the North-west ridge. We run a small group of 4-6 participants with the support of a competent Sherpa team, who have summitted the mountain multiple times.
Our prime objective is the Manaslu summit by focusing on quality, safety, and flexibility.
Furthermore, our experience says a small group creates a better ambiance within the Team. And also, the Summit’s success is higher because our Sherpas’ support becomes more personal.

- 1 Climbing Sherpa for 2 participants (precious assistance for the Summit days)
- WILD YAK Team of new generation climbing Sherpas. They are highly trained and skilled in mountaineering with numerous experiences of altitude climbing, including Manaslu and Everest. Moreover, They are also fluent in English, which is vital for communication in the mountains. And obviously, they are super friendly and supportive.
- Full-time Base Camp Manager
- A small group of 4 to 6 climbers is thus flexible and supportive, compared to other big outfitters, which consist of more than 12 international climbers in the Team.
- High-quality Oxygen with advanced regulator and mask
- First Aid medical box, including two oxygen bottles, mask, and regulator for emergency
- 24/24 hours high altitude emergency consultant
- One radio set for 2 participants during the ascents
- Satellite phone (personal communications on each participant’s charge
- A 24-hour based radio station at Base Camp (for emergencies)
- Weather forecast by Professionals (not by general weather information on the Internet)
- Fix lines installed by our Sherpa Team, where necessary
- Good contact with the local Helicopter Rescue companies
- One sleeping bag per participant (if necessary) – to avoid regularly carrying the sleeping bag on the Mountain.
- Expensive climbing materials such as a downsuit, climbing shoes, and sleeping bag (available for rent by us)

Cho Oyu
The “Turquoise Goddess” as named by the Tibetan is the sixth highest mountain in the world. Cho Oyu stands on the Tibet-Nepal border, 20 kilometers west of Mount Everest and Lhotse, the fourth highest mountain, in the Khumbu region of eastern Nepal along the Tibetan border. On its west, you can see the Nangpa La, which was a major pass and trade route between the Khumbu Sherpa people and Tibet from centuries.
