LOBUCHE PEAK 6119 METERS / (20.075 ft)
Lobuche Peak is a beautiful peak with an altitude of 6119 meters (20.075 ft), which lies in the Everest Region of Nepal inside the world-famous Sagarmatha National Park. The mountain is very suitable for the novice climber who wants to experience an expedition in the Himalaya besides a trekking experience.
Within three days, Lobuche Peak can be climbed from its base camp. The peak is not technically strenuous besides the altitude, which can be challenging for the people who have not reached that height once before. But its summit offers one of the best panoramic mountain views from the entire region. The world’s tallest peaks like Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam are seen so close.
HOW DIFFICULT IS LOBUCHE SOUTH-EAST ROUTE TO CLIMB?
The peak is known as one of the most stunning 6000 mountains in Nepal. The standard route to the summit is from the south and through the southeast ridge. Technically speaking, this route is not an extremely steep route peak, and the summit success rate is higher than 80%. However, one must be physically strong enough to endure 8-10 hours of mountaineering and have basic knowledge of climbing (use of crampons, ice axe, descender, ascender, and rope handing). During the first 2 hours of the climb, the ascent is a glacier walk where poles are useful, followed by a section on rocky moraine of about 400 meters before reaching the final 300-meters snow part till the summit. Some short sections of the ascent will be of 40-45 degrees.
