LOBUCHE PEAK 6119 METERS / (20.075 ft)

Lobuche Peak is a beautiful peak with an altitude of 6119 meters (20.075 ft), which lies in the Everest Region of Nepal inside the world-famous Sagarmatha National Park. The mountain is very suitable for the novice climber who wants to experience an expedition in the Himalaya besides a trekking experience.
Within three days, Lobuche Peak can be climbed from its base camp. The peak is not technically strenuous besides the altitude, which can be challenging for the people who have not reached that height once before. But its summit offers one of the best panoramic mountain views from the entire region. The world’s tallest peaks like Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam are seen so close.

The peak is known as one of the most stunning 6000 mountains in Nepal. The standard route to the summit is from the south and through the southeast ridge. Technically speaking, this route is not an extremely steep route peak, and the summit success rate is higher than 80%. However, one must be physically strong enough to endure 8-10 hours of mountaineering and have basic knowledge of climbing (use of crampons, ice axe, descender, ascender, and rope handing). During the first 2 hours of the climb, the ascent is a glacier walk where poles are useful, followed by a section on rocky moraine of about 400 meters before reaching the final 300-meters snow part till the summit. Some short sections of the ascent will be of 40-45 degrees.

One of the best parts of climbing Lobuche peak is its trekking route till the base camp. The Everest region is famous for its big mountains and its friendly Sherpa people. The 17-day journey, starting from the colorful Kathmandu at 1350 meters to the top of Lobuche Peak, will be a life-time experience. Guided sightseeings of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu, breath-taking flight to Lukla, trekking below the giant mountains, authentic Sherpa villages and its culture, and visits of monasteries are part of Lobuche peak expedition. The diversity of the landscape makes each day exciting and unique to explore.

We organize Lobuche Peak exclusively on a small group basis or for private expedition groups. We believe small groups bring better teamwork and mutual understanding. Our trekking route is tailor-made for better acclimatization. We cross via the beautiful Gokyo Lake @ 4700 meters the Chola pass before reaching Lobuche base camp. While climbing Lobuche peak and for safety purposes, Wild Yak’s Climbing Sherpa Guide will fix the rope in some technical parts. Also, weather reports, proper communication devices are provided for the ascent. First Aid Kit, Oximeter (device to check the O2 level) and oxygen mask regulator in case of emergency.
We are also happy to advise you with a free pre-departure consultation and regular useful tips and tricks for your Trip. Last but not least, you can find by us climbing material for renting such as climbing boots, big down jackets, crampons, and many more.
