Ski Expeditions
Climb up, ski down…
Skiing at a high altitude is an entirely different sensation than climbing such high mountains. Whether Heli-Skiing or Ski-touring, skiing is getting popular in other regions of the world too.
Besides usual climbing expeditions, to go for a Ski Expedition requires much more endurance, self-reliance, and excellent skiing skills. Most high mountains are not favorable for skiing because of their vertical flanks, altitude, and impropriate snow information. But there are a couple of skiable mountains in the such as Putha Himchuli, Mera Peak, and Saribung Peak in Nepal and Muztagh Ata in China, which are not technical climbing peaks but have a perfect shape for skiing.
Among the fourteen 8000 peaks, Shishapangma is the only mountain appropriate for skiing from camp-3 to deposit camp. However, excellent skiing skills are required.
We have already operated a couple of skiing expeditions to Putha Himchuli and Shishapangma. Norbu Sherpa (Wild Yak co-founder) himself experienced skiing on the flanks of Muztagh Ata and Shishapangma.
